Comparison
Dating apps for sporty people in Paris: an honest comparison
By the Cadencer team · updated
In short
If you live in Paris and want to date someone who runs, climbs or trains, three apps are built around sport: bpm (the most popular in France, 4.5 out of 5 from more than 3,200 App Store ratings, available in English), Leets (gym-focused, English only) and Cadencer (launched on 1 November 2026, in English and French, built around real group sessions like its Paris Run Club). General apps such as Hinge, Bumble or Tinder have far more members but no sport filter. Strava is not a dating app. The right choice mostly depends on how many active members are near you.

This comparison is published by Cadencer, one of the apps compared. So we stuck to verifiable facts (App Store listings, official websites, press coverage) and we also say where Cadencer falls short. Data checked on 3 November 2026.

The sport dating apps
bpm launched on the App Store on 17 December 2025 and already has more than 3,200 ratings, averaging 4.5 out of 5. You match on sports and training frequency, and profiles are checked with a selfie before going live. Its best idea is the first date as a workout at partner venues (climbing gyms, studios), with a free or discounted session. It is currently the most installed sport dating app in France, and the app itself is available in English.
Leets has been around since 2023 and targets gym regulars, with two modes: find a training partner or a crush. Its listing is in English only, and the Leets+ subscription unlocks advanced filters.
Cadencer (our app) starts from a different idea: meet during a real group session instead of swiping. You match on sports, level and training times, join a session (the Cadencer Run Club starts in Paris), then like the people you met. The app is fully available in English. Its current limit is clear: it launched on 1 November 2026 and still has few members. Outside Paris, you will find more profiles elsewhere for now.
General dating apps and sport
The big apps have noticed that sport has become a dating topic, mostly through one-off events. In the UK, Tinder ran free "SoleMates" run clubs with the Runna app in 2024, then a challenge with Strava in 2025 (Global Dating Insights, WeRSM). In Paris, the French app Fruitz hosted a running session for 90 singles with an influencer (Woo Paris).
Their advantage is volume, and for English speakers in Paris that matters. Their limit: no filter by sport or level, so it is up to you to spot who actually runs from their bio.
What about Strava?
Strava is not a dating app, but plenty of couples have met through its clubs. Strava's 2025 report found that running clubs on the app grew 3.5 times in a year (Bike Magazin). The good way to use it: join a Strava club to find group runs, then meet people in person. The bad way: sending kudos in bulk to strangers. Also turn on privacy zones so the start and end of your runs do not reveal where you live.
How to choose
- 1
Local density
The number one factor. A perfect app with ten profiles in your area is useless. Try the free version and count how many active profiles you see in a week.
- 2
Language
If your French is basic, pick an app available in English and check that profiles near you write in English too.
- 3
Profile verification
Selfie verification, human moderation and easy reporting have become standard in sport dating apps: expect them.
- 4
Getting offline
An app that offers sessions or partner venues saves you weeks of messaging. That is the point of a sport app over a general one.
